Description
3M Scotchcal Premium and 3M Controltac Films have been specifically developed by 3M for optimal cutting, weeding,
liting, and transfer features when used with automated vinyl cutting machines, as well as optimal printing characteristics
for use with our digital printing system. They are durable and dimensionally stable films intended for the production of
attractive letters, graphics, logos, and signs for commercial and industrial applications.
3M Scotchcal Film has a clear pressure sensitive adhesive which allows it to be used to produce attractive two-way markings. These films are intended for use on a wide variety of flat substrates such as glass, metals, acrylics, polycarbonates, fiberglass, painted surfaces and flat/riveted surfaces. Application to corrugated/riveted surfaces is not recommended or warranted.
3M Scotchcal 225 features a transparent, synthetic liner for optimal cutting, weeding, and transfer. In addition, the Series 225 polyester liner allows for superior registration of multi-colored graphics.
3M Controltac features a repositionable pressure activated adhesive. These films are intended for use on flat surfaces with and without rivets and corrugated surfaces (available in nine colors). These films feature a grey adhesive (except Bright Yellow) which provides maximum color opacity.
These films are not intended for use where markings may be subject to petrochemical spillage.
Effective Performance Life
When printed and applied in accordance with 3M recommended procedures, the following performance may be expected.
Performance statements are based upon representative experience obtained from testing throughout the United States;
however, actual performance will be determined by substrate selection and preparation, maintenance of the marking and
exposure conditions.

Black or White: 7 Years
Colored: 6 Years
Metallic: 5 Years
Note: Unprinted white film, when used on outdoor signs which are not washed, has a tendency to chalk.
In some colors, a significant decrease in color fastness may be experienced when applied to surfaces which are horizontal or nearly horizontal.
Shelf Life
Unprinted film may be stored by the fabricator for a period of up to one year. Markings may be stored for an additional
period of up to one year. Sheeting and markings must be stored in a clean area, free from excessive moisture and direct
